Romney: Don't root for Obama to fail
Leave it to Mitt Romney to deliver an eloquent message to the nation. I agree with him that regardless of whatever political side a person is on right now, it is in the nation's best interests if whatever we do is done correctly. By rooting to fail we are setting ourselves up for a self-fulfilling prophecy and given the state of the nation right now that is not something we should be encouraging. Romney's words offer a sense of bipartisanship that would probably be beneficial to what is going on in Washington today if Congress actually were to listen. However, if Republicans think things are going in the wrong direction then by all means it is their right and they have an obligation to speak up against the President because that is where we bring accountability to office. Unfortunately for Romney and Republicans, if President Obama does succeed with his political agenda and the nation does see economic growth then they will be destined to lose to Obama in the 2012 election. The public will associate whatever happens under Obama's watch to him as Charles Jones has pointed out and so by rooting for failure, Republicans may actually be giving themselves hope for the next election.
