Code Pink changes its hue

Another interest group that just won't go away from the lobbying table is Code Pink. If you haven't heard of them they are committed to ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and bringing the troops home and have other similiar priorities of groups like MoveOn. I was watching a Congressional hearing in the office last week when I saw a row of Code Pink protesters in the audience holding up signs in a very distracting manner. The Committee Chairman had to tell the individuals to put the signs down or he would have them removed from the audience. To me, it was very distasteful to interrupt a Congressional hearing with that kind of protesting. It is one thing to do it on the street and lead marches, but to detract Congress during the middle of important hearings with messages they already understand and have heard often enough, it did little to accomplish the group's goals. By frustrating members of Congress they stand to lose any influence they have at all with stunts like these and will have to live with whatever Congress ultimately decides on the issue. It would be more effective to schedule meetings with their representatives and talk face to face rather than through jaded messages on pieces of cardboard.
