Vatican Goes Green
I came across this article and was not sure if I saw it in any other major news outlets. The article talks about the Vatican setting the groundwork for the largest solar field in Europe! I think this is an incredibly important feat for the Vatican, an organization that is typically seen as being very sluggish to adapt to the changing world around it. The Vatican's move will hopefully spur others in Europe to realize that even with the current state of the economy we can strive for green investment. Admittedly the nation-state does not deal with domestic policies on nearly the same scale as other nations within Europe, but considering that the Roman Catholic Church has over a billion members this can be seen as an important step in putting the pressure on nations across the globe. It is also the first move by the new pope that I have really noticed that would challenge nations on a global scale. The other projects that the Vatican has in the works are also worth noting when reading the article.
