GOP may hamper Obama detainee plan

The battle for Guantanamo Bay is heating up now with the GOP determined to do all it can to prevent President Obama from making a potential mistake by moving inmates to jails in the United States. Like we discussed during our debate, I see one major problem that really has not been answered by any of the lawmakers involved in the process and that is where will the inmates end up if they are found guilty. I know I would be hesitant to allow them into my state because who knows what will happen if al Qaeda or another terrorist organization decides to try and hatch threats around the nation. That is why I would have waited if I were President Obama to come up with a well-thought out and prepared plan for the closure rather than simply go right into the closure process. Now we are stuck trying to put together a plan with a short deadline and if we fail to come up with the best strategy then we will have wasted a great opportunity to finally put an end to this messy situation. Guantanamo may be seen as a symbolism of hatred for terrorists around the globe, but I am not sure that putting the inmates into our country will do much to end the threat, which would render Obama's position as less meaningful.
