Former NFL Coach Tony Dungy Invited to Join White House Faith Council

I doubt that Tony Dungy will accept the position from President Obama, but it is very interesting to see how sports figures keep appearing in the administration's plans. I can definitely see how someone like Dungy would potentially ease concerns of evangelical conservatives given his strong religious background and support for initiatives in Indiana that would ban gay marriage. I like Dungy and really see how he could bring something to the table and he would definitely command respect from anyone who comes into contact with him. Although President Obama probably disagrees with Dungy's religious beliefs, it is important to surround yourself with people who think differently if only to strengthen your arguments down the road. Dungy is someone who could push forward some very good measures and could be a figurehead for the advisory council that America could trust and support. I was saddened to see such a great coach leave the game of football this year, but serving a useful purpose to the nation in a different area is something that I could learn to accept. That being said all of this may just be worthless given that he probably will not want to take on such a role given his commitment to spending more time with his family and watching his children grow up.
