Michelle Obama and the Queen slipped their arms around each other towards the end of a reception at Buckingham Palace held in honor of the G20 leaders and their wives. It had been considered a breach of protocol to touch the Queen. When the former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating put his arm around the Queen in 1992, he was branded the "Lizard of Oz". When his successor, John Howard, was accused of doing the same, a spokesman insisted: "We firmly deny that there was any contact whatsoever."

I doubt Michelle will receive the same condemnations about abandoning this protocol. The American as well as international public respect and like her...and they wait anxiously to see her next dress selection. From what I've seen and read about her in the media, I'm not sure there is much that Michelle Obama can do wrong in their eyes.
You can't touch the Queen? What is she, a museum exhibit?
I just wanted to get your reactions. I agree with Stephen, I think that it is a bit silly in this day and age.
