Iowa Court Says Gay Marriage Ban Is Unconstitutional
Iowa is the first state in the Midwest to approve same-sex marriage. Joining Massachusetts and Connecticut, its Supreme Court decision signals a broader shift in public thinking, especially in the nation’s more conservative middle. I'm intrigued that this decision resulted in Iowa. At least six states in the Midwest were among those around the country that adopted amendments to their state constitutions banning same-sex marriage. What influenced this shift in Iowa?
