Lincoln opposes card-check bill

Senator Blanche Lincoln is stirring up the pot now for the Employee Free Choice Act after declaring she would not be in favor of the bill in its current format. I have to say that I am quite shocked by this turnaround from the Senator because she was one of the more vocal proponents of the measure when it was first introduced to Congress last session. It makes me wonder just how influential support from big business is for the upcoming election because unless she is feeling the heat from potential heavy spenders it would seem like she has no reason to change her mind on a bill like this. I am actually glad to see her take this stance because I do not like the bill as it is composed right now either. There are too many provisions that would cause potential problems without any great solutions in sight. If a bill like this is to be passed, I would like to see major compromises made by each side, which is something that I do not see happening. I think this bill will fade away for awhile now that two key members are against it in Lincoln and Specter and that may just be a good thing for both parties. President Obama cannot really think this is a major priority for his administration right now with all of the different issues he hopes to tackle and Republicans have to be glad that they can protect their backers' interests.
