Bill would let Fla. students vote for energy fee

I think this is a great idea for the state of Florida and could be a stepping stone into major changes at universities across the nation. It is obvious to me that the cost of renewable and alternative sources of energy is going to be very expensive in the current setting. Given that in order to improve the energy efficiency of college campuses will require major overhaul, students should have a say as to whether they want to be on the hook for such changes. A move like this is empowering for students as they get to actually decide on important issues that the administration will have to listen to. To me the cost of $30 from each student per year does not seem terribly high and so I probably would vote in favor of the move because of the long term benefits it will create. Leaving a legacy at your school is something that will be with you and future generations and what better way to set your mark than to decide on an issue like this that may even play its way into the federal government's decisions to move forward with energy policy changes.
