Obama avoids word 'genocide' before Turkish hosts

I can appreciate the political correctness that President Obama displayed today when asked his views about the actions of the Turkish government on the Armenians in the 20th century. At this point we cannot really afford to push distance or distaste between us and Turkey given how helpful they could be in restoring some of the peace and tranquility in the Middle East. To a degree, I do not really even care what President Obama thinks of the issue even though his record indicates that he is in favor of the resolution mulling through Congress. This is because regardless of his views, he needs to act in the best interests of our country and if there is no way to resolve the differences amicably then I do not think pushing forward with the resolution is the right thing to do at this time. I know how important it is to Armenia to see the horrors they underwent acknowledged because what they experienced is unacceptable and wrong on all levels. We cannot allow another situation like this to occur again and the way we phrase the wording of history could help us realize the significance of what transpired and how we might be able to resolve a similar situation in the future.
