Senate Democrats to scrap Obama's $400 tax credit

It appears that maybe President Obama does not have his Party in line with his politics. The one line that I kept hearing during the presidential campaign was that he was going to give tax cuts to 95% of Americans. I did not think he was going to be able to fulfill that promise at all, but to his credit he did with his work and married couple tax cuts. Yet, for them to be ending within a year after implementation demonstrates how committed the Democrats are to striking down the national debt we are poised to acquire with all of the issues that President Obama is pushing for with the stimulus and budget proposals. I like that this is a real focus of Congress, but I am a bit curious as to why they feel the tax cuts are the ways to go about achieving this goal. Not that $400 or $800 dollars a year is going to make a tremendous difference in the lives of many workers, but it still is something that many citizens could utilize in one way or another. Will we see another situation similar to the elder President Bush where his no new taxes line ended up killing his chance for reelection? That is a question that remains to be seen, but at least we are seeing a more balanced form of government instead of one side controlling another.
