Democrats throw public punches at their president

Even though the Obama administration has significant ties to Congress, the messages that are being conveyed to the public have not been entirely supportive of the President. As Charles Jones suggests this is part of the power struggle between Congress and the President and Congress is trying to muscle its way into a more balanced government. I find it a bit surprising that Democrats have been so outspoken with regards to earmarks, the Iraq War, and the budget given the need for unity at this point of time. When Republicans were in power, it seemed like they followed the direction of President Bush and to some degree it did hurt their efforts to get the best things accomplished. Maybe the Democrats have learned that a little separation may not be so bad if it can help in the reelection process in 2010.
