Deficits and Fiscal Credibility

Democrats must be feeling some discomfort after reading this article in the Wall Street Journal by Senator Evan Bayh. I guess President Obama does not have his party in check because why would a Democrat go on the record so openly and dismiss the $490 billion operations plan that has been set forth. The Republican Party is going to use any ammo it can to make Democrats look inefficient to run government and going public with this does not help the situation. Yet, I do agree with Senator Bayh that we need to really look at how much the government is spending right now given the amount of debt we are accumulating and how it may impact us in the future. I would much rather see the omnibus reduced to at most an increase to inflationary levels than the eight percent increase that is currently on the table.
