Suddenly Seeking Specter

While both side often complain about Senator Arlen Specter, Republicans believe he defects from the party far to often (40% in recent years) while Democrats he him as a "fair-weather friend". Harry Reid characterizes the relationship between Specter and the Democratic Party stating "is always with us when we don't need him,". This Newsweek article looks at the fact that the man who so many complain about may be the deciding vote in many Senate battles this term since his defection will allow Democrats to block a Republican filibuster.
