Statements Mark Hope for Bigger Changes in U.S.-Cuba Relations

New and extremely straightforward statements by President Obama and Raul Castro have many hoping a fundemantal shift in relations will ocurr during Obama's presidency. I for one hope this is the case, as our policy towards Cuba does nothing but harm our image throughout Latin America.

Also, the 2008 election showed how a new generation of Cuban-Americans are no longer single-issue voters (anti-Castro), and many in fact voted for Obama, who promised to ease sanctions in return for progress on democracy and human rights, over McCain. It seems as if the stars are aligning for a change in policy.
