Rahm Emanuel Was Blagojevich Extortion Target
I am glad to see that Rahm Emanuel has some moral integrity during his time serving as a Representative for Illinois. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Blago tried to extort him as one of the many in his line for campaign contributions. For everything that I continue to hear out of this story, it seems like every action Blago took was with the idea of how it could help him out financially rather than what was in the best interests of his state and his constituents. It seems ridiculous to me that a grant needed for a school would be subject to a fundraiser held by Emanuel's relative. The school children suffered because of the extortion scheme and considering that it was a high school made it even more important because that is where students begin their preparation for college and the real world. Emanuel did the right thing in not giving into the demands and for that I can say that I am proud of his inaction. Even though I am disappointed with Blago's actions, I am really looking forward to his book because these kind of stories are very interesting and this kind of story is probably just the tip of the iceberg.
