Pentagon Ends Lockheed Contract for Veterans Benefits

With all of the recent talk considering our nation's veterans, it is imperative that we get them the coverage and benefits that they deserve. Even if it is expensive, I think is important to provide assistance to our veterans since they have given up so much to fight for our country and to make the world a better place. The problems that have been pointed out with Lockheed Martin's use of retirement benefits are definitely something that needed to be addressed by our government. Wasting money on the processing of these benefits is something that I feel the Obama administration has worked to address with the decision to forgo the option on an additional year of service with Lockheed. While we probably will be wasting money by processing them ourselves in some way, we cannot allow ourselves to stand still when we know something wrong is occurring. Lockheed is such a large company that I do not really see them suffering from the $28 million loss they will take, but it gives them incentive to improve their service if they want to retake the governmental contract. Just keeping them on their toes and teaching them the lesson of accountability will not only benefit our veterans in the short term, but also future veterans using who will have to use some form of Lockheed subsidiaries in the future.
