Obama to take aim at credit card abuses
I am glad that President Obama is going to help put an end to some of the credit card abuses that companies have been implementing in their everyday policies. It is unfortunate that the only way these companies see that they can make a profit is to go under the radar and charge excessive fees after getting the person hooked on using their card. I know how easy it is to get credit cards as at Hamilton I probably receive about one new one in my mailbox every month without me having given the company any information about myself. I end up just shredding them and throwing them out because I have already have quality credit cards to use. However, I could see how someone who didn't know any better would start using these type of cards and ring up debt that they cannot afford to pay. In the office, we get hundreds of emails asking for protection against credit card companies and I sometimes feel sorry for the individuals who have tragic stories that they write in about. Working on a way to ensure that consumers are protected against abuse and excessive fees is the right thing to do because we need to be aware of what the conditions are of usage before we commit to the card.
