Coleman faces hot seat even if he wins
I had no idea about all of the wrongdoings of Senator Norm Coleman. It seems a like a bit of revenge by the Democrats on the Republican Party to be unleashing all of these subplots into the discussion now that Coleman is considering further legislative action to pursue the open seat. If Coleman did actually do something wrong then it is appropriate that these things come out, but the timing brings into question just how serious these issues were prior to the election. What has the Ethics Committee been doing if it didn't know about his cheap housing or his associations with a benefactor who may have provided him with benefits? It is there job to make sure investigations on things like these occur and the fact that they haven't even been looked into to them at this point makes me curious as to how effective they are as a committee. No person should be above the law and for our Congressmen to be abusing their power is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. The only way we can ensure that they don't commit such terrible crimes is to hold them accountable for their actions. Failing to look into these matters in an appropriate amount of time should not occur and we need to start finding out problems in a more efficient and appropriate manner.
