Health Care Tops the Homework List for Rank-and-File House Democrats

Recess is not the holiday that everyone expects from their Congressmen. The leaders in the House have actually given homework instructions to each of their Democratic colleagues with the hope of generating support that can be used for reform in the health care and energy bills that will be coming up shortly. I know that my Congressman did his forum on energy today and was very well received with his desire to increase alternative energy projects in Arizona. I have not heard yet if he is going to do the health care forum that Congressman Hoyer put out their for him, but I would not be surprised if he did. I think it smart of Hoyer to give out talking points and mock interviews to each member because they need to stand strong and be well prepared against the critics that are going to be coming after them. We have already seen how unprepared Democrats have been made to look foolish on the floor and if it happens in the district they represent, I see it as being just as bad. Health care is a very controversial issue right now and whether or not we should be giving everyone the access to it is going to be well-debated for some time.
