Greenwich Democrat Explores Challenge to Dodd in Connecticut

Already the fire is blazing for Senator Chris Dodd's seat in the Senate. Democrats now have more than Dodd to look forward to in the race now that Roger Pearson has announced that he will put together a campaign for the seat. Interestingly enough, I have actually heard of Pearson not for his political agenda, but for how he was instrumental in giving legal advice to professional tennis players back in the 80s. He was one of the most trusted in the sports industry and so I can see how that would translate into the political arena. The one problem that I see for Pearson is his age. Given that he is 63 and has not held any office in Washington to this point in his career makes me a bit hesitant to believe that he has the necessary experience to become a leader for his state. I don't doubt his credentials, but there is something to be said for his age and how well he actually would be able to withstand the undue stresses and pressures of holding a public office. Unless his law practice is struggling mightily, I would probably try to convince him to stay back home and do what he excels at rather than go after an office that he might not even win given the large pool of candidates that are sure to arise within the next year.
