E-Mail Mistake Costs Prairie Village Big Money

What a way to lose the winning golden ticket! I cannot believe how a city official in Prairie Villiage, Kansas could have ignored a follow-up email from the federal government that would have provided over $2 million from stimulus money to fix needed infrastructure and road repairs. Rightfully so, the employee was fired, but that still does not make up for the fact that $2 million is lost solely because of a giant bonehead mistake. If I was working in a job as projects manager of the public works department in a city as small as this, any email regarding the stimulus would have been flagged majorly important. Yes, we all make mistakes and for that I can see how the guy should be forgiven, but as we learn people need to be held accountable for their mistakes even if they have repented. I feel for the guy, but it may just be time for him to move to another town and move on with his life because this is a situation that I do not think many of his fellow citizens will allow him to forget for a while.
