The Obama speech routine is having a stimulative effect on the Arizona economy. I have a lot of friends that attend Arizona State University and they have told me it is wild on campus where people are coming up to them trying to purchase their graduation tickets. The funniest story I heard was that a person traded one ticket for a 30 pack of Bud Light. I would have thought the ticket could get you much more than that. It is a much different atmosphere from South Bend where the local community is adamantly against President Obama coming to campus. At ASU, it is like the next big thing for the state and even though he came last month to talk about his housing plan, he still is garnering a lot of attention among the student base. The funny thing is that people are actually calling up my work office trying to get into the event. We do not get any tickets for the event to hand to the general public, but it would seem like this is like the Super Bowl with the number of requests that have been sent in. It definitely will be an interesting day in Tempe when President Obama finally descends into the desert as we get to see how well he can speak to the younger generation.
