Swiss minister rejects U.S. demand for UBS data

Given the state of the economy, it appears that the U.S. is really trying to hamper down and collect as much money as possible to fund its new goals. I am in favor of making people pay all of the taxes that they owe, but I am not sure if the UBS should be allowed to disclose the names of its clientele. Even if a citizen is hiding assets out of the country, the law dictates that a bank can only disclose names in situations where the people have committed a crime according to Switzerland. Additionally, by giving into the U.S. demands, it would run the risk of losing business and could potentially cause even more harm to the economy. Tax evasion and fraud are serious issues, but unless we can prove that they have been committed I don't see why the UBS should give in.
