Obama takes rosier view on economy

This is the type of language I expected to hear from President Obama from the beginning. Like FDR, he has to instill confidence in the economic future of America and the best way to do this is by making it appear that it will happen. Rather than fearing people into such a belief, optimism seems like a more appropriate strategy. Even though his policies have not had much of an effect on the economy yet, we really won't be able to tell how successful they are for at least another couple of years when we finally get out of this crisis. However, as FDR illustrated, giving people confidence can make the ills of society seem less daunting as they actually are in reality.
