Specter won’t rule out run as an Independent

The lack of Republican support may finally be getting to Senator Specter of Pennsylvania. I would think he still is at least atop the leader board to win the seat in 2010 regardless of his party affiliation, but the thing is he may be left without a party to run with. I don't see him moving onto the Democrats side as VP Joe Biden tried to get him to do earlier this year, but I also am questioning whether Republicans will target him as their top choice given his decision to join the stimulus proponents. Running as an independent may be not be bad if he can continue to receive some funding from Republicans with the notion that even if he does win he will still stick to their side for most issues.
