Prominent social conservative passes on Senate run
If the Republicans wanted to rid themselves of Senator David Vitter, they lost a great opportunity with Tony Perkins' decision to pass on the 2010 election. Given his immense popularity within the Party, he seemed like an ideal choice to challenge Vitter for the seat. Vitter has tarnished his name once again with his airport incident and the more negative attention he draws to himself, only serves to dispel support he has from his constituents and the GOP. Despite the strong presence of the Republicans in Louisiana, if Vitter continues to mess up, it may be an interesting race to watch for in the next election.
