Pentagon's Unwanted Projects in Earmarks
Typically when you think of defense spending you would associate the Republican Party with the policy proposal. Yet, I was surprised to learn that Democrats are just as likely to spend on things for our military even if we do not need them. Although I am in favor of giving our troops everything they need to succeed and get the job done correctly and safely, I am a bit appalled at how Congressmen continue to let their minds be swayed by the checkbooks of the contractors who supply our military. If the Pentagon says they don't need something, then it probably should serve as a strong indicator that there is no reason to spend taxpayer money on it. The Pentagon knows about what it needs and Congress shouldn't be wasting money on ships and planes that are deemed unnecessary especially given President Obama's desire to leave Iraq.
