Hoyer Statement on Nomination of HHS Secretary

House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) applauded the nomination of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: “Governor Sebelius is a knowledgeable and experienced executive who I believe is an exceptional choice to head the Department of Health and Human Services. I have no doubt that she will bring to the Department the brand of effective leadership and tough problem-solving that have marked her years in public office. “Furthermore, her skill in bipartisan consensus-building will be an incredible asset in working with Congress to achieve fundamental health care reform and address the growing costs of Medicare and Medicaid. I congratulate Governor Sebelius, and look forward to working with her on these goals and other critical health care issues impacting American families.”
