How Obama can avoid a policy jam

One of the biggest mistakes made by President Clinton during his first one hundred days was that he kept changing his focus too quickly. For the first month of his presidency, President Obama worked successfully to pass the economic stimulus package. Now, the President must embark on passing the rest of his agenda. I had hoped that President Obama had learned from President Clinton's mistakes, but his policy messages over the past few week show otherwise. In the past few weeks he has had a fiscal responsibility summit and a health care summit. In his FY 2010 budget he announced radical changes to health care, environmental policy, and tax policy. By announcing such a wide variety of changes at once, President Obama must now rally public support behind all of them. However, as President Clinton learned, he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
