Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich hints at 2012 presidential run
This comes as a big surprise to me considering that Gingrich hasn't been in Congress since 1999. It will be very interesting if he does enter the race because he was definitely an effective strategist for the Republican Party during the Clinton Era and helped give Republicans the advantage they saw in Congress. Yet, I think he may be a bit old to consider running in 2012 because he will be 69, but maybe he thinks he can follow in Ronald Reagan's footsteps. Gingrich definitely adds intrigue to the next election because of his deep roots in the Republican Party that will serve him well if Republicans are able to continue winning the framing war surrounding all of the policies that President Obama and Congress keep putting forth.
