America becoming less Christian, survey finds
The Republican Party may be benefiting from the religion shift the country has seen over the last decade. Despite the findings that America is becoming a less Christian nation, CNN reported that one third of Americans rate themselves as evangelical Christians. That is a big base of which I feel the Republican Party needs to continue to build up considering that some of the new policies regarding abortion and stem cell research that President Obama is putting through. The evangelical support helped President Bush win in 2004, but I think it hurt Senator McCain because they didn't show up for him at the polls. If the survey is true, Republicans may be gearing up for a contested battle in 2012.
