HIT Standards Committee Meeting

Today I attended the Health Information Technology (HIT) Standards Committee Meeting atthe Omni Shorehum Hotel (across the street from Open City). The HIT Standards Committee is composed of members of the private sector and serves to give advice to the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and specifically the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on what standards should be set and where the government should get involved. I was lucky enough to meet the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Farzad Mostashari, who reports directly to the Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius.

Apparently events like this take place often at the Omni and are open to the public- so we should keep our eyes out...its a cool process to see in person.
