Santorum a viable candidate?

Although many Democrats believe that a Santorum nomination would be a blessing, this Politico article suggests that he may actually be a viable candidate with a solid base.  Because of his background and focus on industry, Santorum would likely appeal to Rustbelt and Midwestern voters.  If he is able to forcefully convey his economic plans while avoiding the pitfalls of his socially conservative views, Santorum might even be able to steal some disgruntled Democratic voters.  His campaign certainly has a more populist feel than Romney's, and who knows where the economy will stand come November.  This could create the perfect storm for Santorum to emerge as a more legitimate candidate than originally anticipated.  Even the polls are beginning to agree.  Personally, I believe that Santorum's nomination is unlikely, given his social views that do not jibe with many female voters, but I'm also beginning to think that this election is anyone's game.

Enter: Bush Round 3...?
