US looks to hackers to protect cyber networks
I always see in the movies how the government tries to turn computer hackers into employees with the hope of thwarting attacks, but I have not such a significant barrage of advertising aimed to get hackers into the government as I have now. It is obvious to me that we do need to shore up our computer security because it is possible that it could be the next giant attack on America by terrorists. Being able to have people with first hand experience in the world of hacking is a plus because even if you train someone from scratch they still might not be able to handle it under the pressure. With hackers you know that they are willing to take the risks needed to get the job done and that they have the capability to do so with minimal costs as compared to those who you would have to train longer. This is one of the areas that I see how computing skills actually can come in handy for the government because as we prepare ourselves to move into the next technological phase of governing, we need to ensure the safety and protection of our most important files and information, while at the same time understanding where the growth is headed.
