Obama the next Gorbachev?

Really great article on how Obama's recent foreign policy move of admitting mistakes is reminiscent of Gorbachev's policies of perestroika and glasnost when he was premier of the Soviet Union. I think the comparison is valid, but I doubt Obama's moves will cause the collapse of the United States. I do think, however, that this could inspire countries around the world to challenge U.S. power in a variety of ways. On the other hand, it could reassure the world that a U.S.-dominated international arena is preferable to any other option because we are willing to be reasonable and acknowledge our mistakes. What do you guys think?
