Austria rejects US Guantanamo detainee request
Austria, like the Czech Republic, has declined to take refugees from Guantanamo Bay despite Obama’s pleas. Austria is afraid of subjects itself and the entire EU to the security threat that would come with accepting detainees. Interior Minister Maria Fekter posed the question "If the detainees are no longer dangerous, why don't they stay in the U.S.,"
