Sen. Burris tries to open legal defense fund

Despite the low-key position that Senator Burris has been able to take of late, he still keeps popping back into the fold. His decision to ask the Senate Ethics Committee if he could start a legal defense fund seems to me as a waste. With all of the problems that Burris faced to gain his seat and the ensuing investigation into his connection with Blago, I do not think we should reward his wrongdoings by allowing himself to bailed out of his legal mess. It would be one thing if he were totally innocent, but we can tell that this is not the case. Letting him collect money from individuals and corporations would not illustrate our intolerance for breaking the rules and Burris would be able to withstand some of his critics. I hope that his application is denied even though it looks like it will not because in the end Burris needs to go just as Blago did.
