Prop 8 Argued Today

Prop. 8 goes before the California Supreme Court today. For those who don't know, Prop. 8 is a state amendment which passed by 52 percent and defines marriage as "between a man and a woman". I'm very curious what they're going to do about this one. Several of my friends from home feel that as much as they hate the amendment, the Supreme Court can't overstep the will of the people and overturn it. However, a similar amendment was passed about a decade ago and was overturned on legal grounds. If there's precedent for it, then why not (although admittedly, I don't know the details of that case)? I'm very curious which view the Supreme Court will take. They have 90 days to decide the case.
