Omnibus still one vote short

I just do not understand what Democrats are doing with this spending bill. They should have put it through as quickly as possible because now Republicans are going to have more ammo to throw at them and could potentially spark similar criticisms as in the stimulus bill. Because of their failure to unite as a party, they are losing the framing battle that is crucial for public approval. I know Republicans have been communication masters for a while now, but I thought President Obama did a nice job to combat it during the campaign. Now it appears that Democrats haven't learned enough from their colleagues and I expect them to be paying for it the next time voters get to chose their representatives in 2010.
