Exxon v. Obama
I can understand from a business standpoint why Exxon Mobil wants to continue pushing for reliance on oil for the United States. They reached record profits by jacking up the price at the pump and stand to lose a significant amount of money if they are forced into producing more environmentally friendly sources of energy. However, I see President Obama's plan to get us off the oil dependence we have on foreign countries as a worthwhile goal. It will be difficult to accomplish, but if we cannot get the leading energy giants to help in the process, then the time it takes to actually generate solutions will grow exponentially longer at the cost to citizens and future generations. Clean energy is clearly something that Obama wants to bring forth and it is evident he will do everything he can to make sure it happens as seen with the large amount of money devoted towards such projects in the economic stimulus.
