Census plan gets counted out

One of the hurdles for the 2010 census has been cleared up with President Obama making it clear that the Commerce Department will oversee the census rather than the White House. Even though I would not have expected President Obama to overstep his authority with the type of method being applied, it is nice to see that this will not be a problem. Republicans had grown disgruntled and rightly so when Senator Gregg was going to be the Secretary of the Commerce that President Obama would take over instead of allowing Gregg to do as he saw fit. Now that a Democrat will hold the position, Republicans have less to complain about since Locke will probably see eye to eye with President Obama on sampling methodology.
