$500M math error found in FutureGen cost
A half-billion dollar mistake almost shut down the production of a coal-fueled experimental power plant in Illinois last year. I was surprised that the Department of Energy could make such a giant mistake considering that the power plant would have provided Illinois with another source in this time of need. Yes, the project is expensive and for the DOE to shut it down due to the price was the right move at the time, but now that the cost has decreased substantially it is in the taxpayer's best interests to get use out of the money already put down on the project. I am glad to see that the mistake was found in time and that we can now move forward with the project.
