Go environment! Don't let fossil fuels, C02, acidifying oceans, acid rain, the great pacific garbage patch, melting ice caps, mass die-offs, the gulf coast, BP, increased development, corn ethanol, deforestation, or any number of other crises you are facing keep you down!

I'm not trying to be a downer...but even though this article points to fuel economy improvements in automobiles, the carbon footprint of from all cars has actually increased in the last 40 years because of a shift toward purchasing SUVs, which have an average fuel economy 29% lower than the average car and have not improved their average fuel economy over the last decade. Bummer.
