in isolation, its important to remember that these proposals would dramatically reduce the progressivity of our current system (which means if we wanted to raise a set revenue level, whatever it may be- under this system and similar proposals the burden would fall more heavily on low-income and middle-income households). Also, all of these proposals as popularly promulgated have been shown to result in dramtically less revenues than their advocates claim or present from our current tax system. These kinds of propsals would actually hurt our deficit and require spending cuts beyond the level even Paul Ryan was willing to propose.
