Ike: Obama's Strategic Momma?

Obama Administration lapdog and resident pseudo-intellectual David Brooks (the voice of the upper yuppy middle class!) had a column saying many of the similar things a couple of weeks ago. Seems like the politico types in the White House are trying to peddle that comparison in the media in hopes of making it stick. They've decided the pragmatic above-the-fray not-actually-a-politician image is what they want to go for... even though this "look he's not all that political or partisan" campaign is itself completely a political calcualation.

So if you're keeping score at home, Obama is now something like Ike, Reagan, Clinton, and Kennedy COMBINED! How could you possibly not re-elect a man who is 4 presidents in one?!?

If it is an intentional strategy (which I question), I think it's not working very well for the country when it comes to policy substance. Politically, it might serve HIM well for the election, but I'm not sure it's a long-term political plus for the Democratic Party.

I think the former matters a lot more to Barack "Post-Partisan" Obama's team than the latter.

Well of course. Obama is the second-coming of the Messiah. In the end, the world will appreciate his genius and vision that will lead us into a HOPE-and-CHANGE-filled New World. It's inevitable.

Brownstein's characterization of Ike is a bit simplistic.
