If you don't know, now you know

This is a New Jersey post. Sorry. But I think it's eventually got national implications. Eventually.

But it starts off about a mayor. Maybe you wonder why you're supposed to give a sh hoot about a mayor from New Jersey. Well the man is Cory Booker, Mayor of Newark, New Jersey's largest city and home to the popular airport/layover center. Mayor Booker is already a media darling with ridiculously high approval ratings. It's not a matter of "if" he'll run for higher office, but when.

Oh, and he just saved a woman from a burning house last night.
No big deal.

Should Mt. Christie get tabbed for a VP or cabinet slot, or if his approval ratings fall from their (INEXPLICABLE!!!) heights of 59%, expect Booker to run in 2013 for Governor. If they remain high, expect Booker to wait a year and replace (my boy) Senator Frank Lautenberg in the Senate. Either way, Booker will be holding a prominent office by January of 2015. At that point, he'll be 46. Once Bill, Hillary, and Barack start their rides off into the sunset, this guy is probably the future face of the Democratic Party. So remember the name.

Yes, Booker! I drive by a huge billboard with his face on it every time I want to get on the Parkway North. NJ all day.

Performance as Mayor-- fair.

I hear that he has a bromance with Chris Christie.

He's not my favorite in terms of policy. I'll vote for him probably (definitely if he's a gubernatorial candidate vs Christie). But he does have a bromance with Christie. There's a few positions, including his education policies, that I disagree with vehemently.

With that said 1) I genuinely admire the way he governs; 2) "fair" in Newark warrants you a Nobel Prize in something.
