Empire State Building used for Chinese Celebration
Is this really an appropriate use of a national symbol?

Doesn't a Chinese company own the building?
No, it's owned by Empire State Building Associates, a general partnership of 2500 investors headed by Peter L. Malkin, Esq. and Mrs. Harry B. Helmsley. They hold the master lease and control the building until 2076. There may be some Chinese investors out of the 2500 who hold stakes, though.
If a Chinese company owned the building, do you really think it would light up in any other color? Much less red, white, and blue like its default is?
