Since Roxanne's post came with several disclaimers I thought I would add one to this one: This is only a small portion of the Catholic priests in America.
Megan, you’re right that it is just a small number of priests who have ruined the image of the entire clergy. However, that is not the issue. The Grand Jury in this case is investigating the Church in how they dealt with Priests who they KNEW had histories of abuse. The cover-up and conspiracy here have nothing to do with the fact that it is a Catholic Church but the fact that it is an organization who continued to relocate priests, who had abused kids, to different parishes around the city. Instead of defrocking priests, the Archdiocese saved face by relocating them, and putting kids in more danger. This is not a religious issue. This is deplorable behavior from a formerly respected organization that ruined the lives of many kids and families.
I understand that, but the main point of Roxanne's post was not that Muslims are crazy it was that there is one extremist Muslim group (possibly a spoof?) who is protesting at the White House, and there were 3 disclaimers offered. The issue at stake is disgusting and makes me extremely angry. I just thought I would offer a disclaimer to be fair to Catholicism so vast generalizations are not made.
