Donald Magnuson was my great grandfather. He was a journalist from the state of Washington who wrote a famous piece about alcoholism. He was elected to the 83rd Congress and served in the next four consecutive Congresses. He was a good friend of Tip O'Neill, and a liberal Democrat (SHHHH). His service ended in scandal when he received a DWI (in a day when DWI's were very hard to come by nonetheless) and resigned from his post. Now I really should stop procrastinating and keep studying for our test tomorrow!
